At this stage, communication is no longer only about preparation and planning, but also about presenting the project’s progress, results, and the role of European Union funding in a clear and credible way.
Making the Development Visible
In our previous post, we introduced the publicity requirements of the preparatory phase. Now let us look at what must be fulfilled during the implementation phase of the project. According to the KTK Plus guidelines, the objective during implementation is to present the project in an understandable way and acknowledge the EU funding support behind it.
Mandatory Elements and Requirements During This Phase
Press release announcing the start of the project
The Beneficiary must issue a free press release announcing the launch of the development project and collect records of media coverage.
- the press release must be approved by the Managing Authority at least 15 days before distribution
- it must be sent to media service providers, the Hungarian News Agency (MTI), and local press outlets
- the release must explain the essence of the development and the role of EU funding in a clear and accessible manner
- a template for the press release is available on the Managing Authority’s website
Organizing a Public Event
At least one event open to the public must be organized (opening or closing event, inauguration ceremony, foundation stone laying, etc.), where EU funding support must be indicated both verbally and visually.
- mandatory for all projects exceeding HUF 197 million
- the event must be announced to the Managing Authority 45 days in advance, including the agenda, venue, and invited participants
- EU support must be prominently displayed both verbally and visually — for example on roll-up banners or press walls
Installation of an Information Board
The type of information board is determined by the value and nature of the project: an A2-sized board is required for larger projects (e.g. above HUF 197 million), an A3-sized board for smaller or non-investment-type projects, while a Euro billboard must be used for projects exceeding HUF 5 billion.
Additional requirements:
- the board must be installed at the physical start of the project
- the use of the signboard generator software available on the application portal is mandatory to ensure a unified visual identity
- a dated photograph of the installed board must be taken and retained until project closure
Media Appearance
At least one paid or unpaid media appearance is mandatory (press, online media, social media, television, or radio). The communication must include a reference to EU funding support.
Photo Documentation
The project’s progress, events, and investments must be documented with high-quality photographs (at least 3 photos from each major phase), which must also be uploaded to the Térképtér platform.
Preparation of Result Communication Materials
The project results must be presented in printed or digital format. The use of the beneficiary information block is mandatory, and the development must be explained in a clear and understandable way. This phase represents the “golden age” of project communication: this is when the results, the completed work, and the social benefits of EU funding become visible.
In our next blog post, we will present the publicity obligations following the completion of the project.
