A key financing opportunity for Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises has reached a new level: the funding framework of the Demján Sándor Capital Program has been significantly increased. Under a government decision, the original HUF 100 billion allocation has now been raised to HUF 150 billion, in response to the outstanding interest from market participants.

What is behind the expansion?

Demand for the program has far exceeded expectations. The high number of applications submitted by micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises clearly indicates strong demand for accessible equity financing under favorable conditions in Hungary.

As a result, the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) temporarily suspended the acceptance of new applications as of January 16, 2026, in order to focus on processing the applications already received.

More flexible conditions, greater opportunities

One of the program’s key advantages is that it not only provides funding but also adapts to the needs of businesses. Thanks to earlier adjustments, for example:

  • the maximum amount of capital available per company has been doubled,
  • access to the program has been simplified,
  • the primary goal remains to stimulate investments and enhance competitiveness.

This is particularly important for companies in a growth phase that have so far been unable to scale due to lack of capital.

When will applications reopen?

The current suspension is temporary. On the contrary, following the processing period and thanks to the increased funding framework, the application window is expected to reopen.

This means that companies that previously missed out should stay alert for the next opportunity.

What makes this program unique?

One of the most important features of the Demján Sándor Capital Program is that it offers equity financing, which differs from traditional loans in several ways:

  • there is no conventional loan repayment burden,
  • the MKIK Capital Fund requires only a symbolic 1% ownership stake,
  • businesses can grow with a more stable financial foundation.

This makes it an ideal solution for technological upgrades, capacity expansion, or even entering new markets.

Summary

The increased funding framework of HUF 150 billion sends a clear message: supporting the development of SMEs remains a key economic policy priority. Companies that act in time can gain a significant competitive advantage in the coming period.
