The call titled “Support for the Complex Development of Domestic Research Infrastructures” has been launched with a total budget of HUF 26 billion, aiming to strengthen what has so far operated in a fragmented and often underfunded way: the unity of knowledge, research equipment, and collaboration.
The programme targets members of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network, as well as institutions, budgetary bodies, and enterprises operating outstanding or promising research infrastructures - in other words, all those capable of staying at the forefront of science and innovation.
The goal is clear: to achieve substantial progress in Hungary’s research infrastructure - expanding the equipment base, implementing related R&D activities, and supporting initiatives that enhance performance, strengthen researcher training, modernize physical infrastructure where justified, and broaden domestic and international scientific cooperation.
The focus is not only on equipment development but also on improving accessibility and collaboration within research infrastructures. The call supports better access to databases, stronger open-innovation capacities, and the development of national and international research partnerships. Research infrastructure today is far more than a collection of instruments: it encompasses knowledge-based resources and ICT infrastructures - from networks and computing tools to software and telecommunications - everything essential for the modern, data-driven research ecosystem.
Applications may be submitted between 6 January and 5 February 2026. Out of the total HUF 26 billion available, HUF 20.4 billion is allocated to the more developed region of Budapest and HUF 5.6 billion to the less developed regions. Projects may receive non-refundable support between HUF 50 million and HUF 4 billion, and consortium applications are also permitted. The implementation period may not exceed 36 months.
