Back in May, we reported that the GINOP Plusz - 1.4.5-25 loan program had been announced, offering favorable financing terms to support SMEs in their green and digital transition. The announcement generated strong interest, and many companies began preparing their documentation early - now the time has come: from June 23, 2025, loan applications can officially be submitted.
Significant funding available - but it may be depleted quickly
The total budget for the program is HUF 155 billion, from which eligible businesses can receive repayable, interest-free loans. While this amount may seem substantial, due to the highly attractive conditions, oversubscription is expected, especially among companies planning energy and digital investment projects. For this reason, early submission is strongly recommended - applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, and funds are allocated in the order of receipt.
What can be funded?
The program’s objective remains the same: to enhance the competitiveness of Hungarian micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises through green and digital development. Key features of the financing:
- Loan amount: minimum HUF 150 million, maximum HUF 600 million
- Term: up to 10 years
- Interest rate: fixed 0%
- Eligible activities: energy efficiency upgrades, renewable energy investments, digitalization projects,
- equipment purchases, and more
Loans can be applied for through the MFB Pont Plusz network.
Who is the program for?
The National Champions Loan Program targets Hungarian SMEs that meet the following criteria:
- at least 3 completed financial years
- at least 5 employees (statistical headcount)
- exporter and/or supplier business activity
- minimum net annual revenue of HUF 100 million in the last closed financial year
What should you pay attention to now?
- Applications are now open, and based on previous experience, the highly favorable terms mean that the funding pool may be exhausted quickly - early preparation is essential.
- Successful application requires thorough preparation, including a solid business and financial plan, investment documentation, and materials proving the company’s strategic growth potential.
- Expert assistance significantly increases the chance of approval - an experienced advisory team can help navigate the rules and optimize the application process.
- Participation is not automatic - applicants must demonstrate that their business truly qualifies as a “national champion,” with the potential for sustainable growth and measurable impact on the national economy.
Applications can be submitted between June 23, 2025, and December 31, 2026 via the MFB Pont Plusz network.
