An extra month to prepare
According to the call for proposals, applications can be submitted from 10:00 on 10 February 2026 until the published closing/suspension notice. In practice, this means extra preparation time: there is still ample time to put together the technical concept and the budget.
You can apply even without solar panels
Under the scheme, the purchase of an energy storage unit/facility (electricity or thermal energy) is an eligible standalone activity. In other words, the lack of a solar PV system is not a disqualifying factor: the focus is on energy storage, which can be expected to reduce grid electricity consumption and make energy use more balanced.
And if you do want solar panels: they can be included in the project
Under the call, a renewable (photovoltaic) system is not eligible as a standalone investment; however, funding can be requested for it in addition to the storage system.
An important limit: support allocated to the PV component may account for no more than 33% of the total approved grant.
Good news for those “without solar panels”: at the time of submission, a plan for renewable energy generation (e.g., a concept/technical plan) may be sufficient.
How much funding are we talking about?
- Grant available: HUF 10 million – HUF 1 billion
- Aid intensity depends on company size: micro/small 50%, medium 40%, large 30%
If the scheme has not been on the agenda so far due to the lack of solar panels, it is worth reconsidering now: energy storage can be supported as a standalone investment, and a PV system can be added to the project as an optional element.
