Entrepreneurial interest and the level of oversubscription exceeded all expectations, so the government provided an additional HUF 82 billion on top of the previous HUF 48 billion. This brought the total funding pool to HUF 130 billion – making it one of the largest targeted direct resources for the domestic SME sector.
Why is it so popular?
The key to the program is its simplicity and incentive ratio: businesses can receive non-refundable state support for 50% of their planned investment. The available grant amount ranges between HUF 5 and 200 million, making it attractive to the full spectrum of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. The level of oversubscription confirms this: nearly 1,900 applications were submitted, which, under the original funding, would have allowed support for only a quarter of them.
The impact of the budget increase
As a result of the expanded funding, nearly 1,800 winning projects may now be realized instead of the initial 450 – including machinery purchases, site developments, digital transitions or energy-efficiency improvements. This serves not only as a direct economic stimulus, but also as an indirect boost to competitiveness for domestic entrepreneurs, who often start at a disadvantage in productivity and innovation compared to international players.
